The University of Alberta student newspaper the Gateway used to carry two fairly inspired comic strips. They were both pretty popular when I was in high school, so I associate them with each other. Bob the Angry Flower is still going, but Spacemoose drifted into obscurity. The original web site was taken down quite a while ago, so I wondered what had happened to Mr. Thrasher. It turns out that Mr. Thrasher, BBS geek and belligerent cartoonist, is now Dr. Thrasher, valuable member of society. His work on functional electrical stimulation is a far cry from his former interests.
I found the news particularly interesting because I wrote my extended essay about some other FES research at the U of A way back then.

Posted by: ben on December 4, 2003 07:09 PMthere seems to still be a www.spacemoose.com site up and running. sort of...somehow i never expected the creator of spacemoose to be involved in research for the betterment of others.
Posted by: beth on December 6, 2003 11:03 AMone of the girls that works in the lab here had an honours math course with adam thrasher @ u of a. she isn't familiar with spacemoose however, aside from the fact that fred's quake nick is spacemoose and is quite frequently yelled out in the lab during heated battle.
