After dinner and drinks on Saturday, a bunch of us went dancing. The front entrance had the words "GAY BAR" printed in large block letters. I really appreciated that. They don't want anyone paying cover and finding out there was a misunderstanding somewhere. I was glad to see both sides of the coin represented too, both boys and girls having a good time with their respective biological preferences. "Hey Wendy, I'm not breaking any rules by dancing with you, am I?" "No, I think you're ok." Right on. Fun place, but the music seemed to be the same beat over and over again. Homogeneous, you might say.
As we were all sitting around on Sunday, digesting brunch and enjoying the rest before dinner, Geoff suggested that we replace all instances of "lazy" with "civilized". Sleeping until noon and only getting up to eat fresh home-made cinnamon buns. How civilized.

Posted by: beth on February 11, 2003 11:14 AMi thought most places used the slightly-more-subtle
"rainbow flag". _gay bar_ just seems so... gauche.
Yes, but the people most likely to misunderstand or fail to notice a rainbow flag also tend to be somewhat, err, gauche. Not to mention likely to cause a scene if there was any confusion. And there are lots of such people in Alberta.
Posted by: evan on February 11, 2003 01:11 PMwow, did i just accidently give albertans too much credit? ;)
living in vancouver spoils you... what with all the gay people
and monster truck riots.
