closet geek

i realized this weekend that the ports on my motherboard were dying one by one from some strange port disease....

so i geeked out on sunday and went in to buy a motherboard, astonishing the sales guy when i announced that _yes_ i was going to take the motherboard home and 'try' to install in myself.

i actually managed to do in under 2 hours ... without the usual problems. well, there was the bit where i finished and turned it all on and nothing happened. but that was just because the monitor cable wasn't attached quite properly.

nothing like a false start to get the adrenaline pumping.

but now my printer works, my mouse works and my computer is very happy. ;)

I would hardly call this "more details than is probably prudent." we here in the western hemi are patiently hitting 'dj, gimme the reload, the reload' on your log page waiting for juicy bitz of inappropiate detail to gush forth in a stream of semi-consciousness, and all you give us is a nerd-fest? jeez. I can get that at home.
