New SSL certificates are now being used for the secure IMAP, SMTP and webmail services. If your browser or mail client complains, just accept it.
We will also be setting up our own Certificate Authority, which will be used to sign all certificates for HTTPS, IMAPS, SMTPS, etc. Once this is up and running, all users can install the root certificate and be rid of those warnings.
We now have two new hard drives in okcomputer: a 36 GB Maxtor Atlas 10K IV SCSI drive for home directories and a 120 GB Western Digital Caviar IDE drive for backups. Our next upgrade may require a new case. With 6 drives, it's getting pretty cramped in there.
We shuffled data around so that gallery.antiflux.org is on its own 18 GB drive, so please resume your uploading.
There seems to be an increase in spam comments on log.antiflux.org lately, so I installed the MT-Blacklist plugin and activated it for all logs. Please let me know if there are any problems. Users can log in at http://log.antiflux.org/mt-blacklist.cgi to see what it's all about. In particular, you can de-spam all your existing comments very easily.
Last night I tried to set up DHCP on okcomputer's second network interface, and it killed the networking on the main interface. Oops. The system was down for about 15 minutes.
Our virus/spam scanner amavis didn't restart automatically, so mail delivery was deferred from 1716 yesterday until 1019 today (-0700). Check the mrtg mail page for a pretty blue line showing a whole lot of no mail.
Attention all users of gallery.antiflux.org: the gallery is now 9 gigabytes in size and we're running very low on available disk space. We plan on buying a new larger hard drive in a few weeks when I'm back in Edmonton for Christmas. If possible, please hold off on uploading new photos until then. I'll post another update here when the upgrade is complete.
If you feel like helping out, donations are always welcome, but by no means necessary.
