I updated Pine to version 4.64 (from 4.62). The Pine web site has a list of changes.

Posted by grant at October 11, 2006 11:23 AMPine now uses "c" instead of "y" to confirm actions. For example, you used to hit "ctrl+c, y" to cancel message composition but now it's "ctrl+c, c". It took me a couple of tries to realize what was going on because I don't read the prompts anymore.
Posted by: tim at October 15, 2006 05:25 PMThis bugs me. I've turned it off (the setting is conveniently located near the top of the settings list).
If you are automatically hitting y to send, that's your problem - it's already an extra level of confirmation (which you can turn off). I've been using PINE for . . . 10 years now? I've sent messages that maybe I shouldn't have, but I've never sent one that I intended to cancel.
From the help on the feature:
"FEATURE: Compose-Cancel-Confirm-Uses-Yes
This feature affects what happens when you type ^C to cancel a composition. By default, if you attempt to cancel a composition by typing ^C, you will be asked to confirm the cancellation by typing a "C" for Confirm. It logically ought to be a "Y" for Yes, but that is risky because the "^C Y" needed to cancel a message is close (on the keyboard) to the "^X Y" needed to send a message.
If this feature is set the confirmation asked for will be a "Yes" instead of a "Confirm" response."
