drive shuffle

Something weird happened again today, bringing antiflux down for a while. We moved the remaining data from the drives that we think have been causing the problems and removed them. Hopefully everything should run smoothly from now on. Posted by tim at April 21, 2004 06:09 PM

Was it the oldskool fat scsi drives that I donated that died?

We're not really sure. It could be the cables, could be the termination, could be just about anything SCSI that was causing the troubles. Maybe Tim or Grant could say more. Anyway, we had too many drives in that box and it was starting to get warmish, so it was time to retire them.

The drives didn't die, but I was worried because the connectors were a bit loose. We were seeing occasional bursts of SCSI errors. We've swapped the SCSI card, the cables, and even one of the drives, so we can probably eliminate those as sources of the problem.
