whooshnet (cable in whistler) sure charges for traffic -- anything over 5G a month and you're paying mad coin. due to my rather large dnb/hip hop mp3 addiction, i waited until i could get ADSL instead of cable. i ran everything through a custom proxy out of curiousity the other month -- 95G downloaded. not bad.

I installed throttled to help with bittorrent downloads and network responsiveness, http://www.intrarts.com/throttled.html . I'm sure that telus will charge for traffic at somepoint.
