bash notification of new mail

Bash can get fancier than just “You’ve got new mail.” I have it checking the same mailboxes that Mutt does.

MAILPATH=$MAIL
for i in `mutt-mailboxes`
do
    MAILPATH=$MAILPATH:$i'?new ${_##*/} mail'
done
export MAILPATH

mutt-mailboxes prints out a list of the mailboxes Mutt is configured to check.
