The Black Keys

Sarah and I went to see The Black Keys on Sunday night and we are very glad that we went. I saw the new Black Keys video on Much Music a couple of weeks ago and made a mental note to check them out later. I had never heard of them before but they have two albums out already and a new one comes out today. I would classify them as blues/rock comparisons have been made to the White Stripes. The show was one of the best shows I've been to in qutie a while. It was at The Drink (supposedly known as the red room now but the sign outside still says the drink) which only holds about 350 people, so it was an intimate setting.

There are only two guys in the band, one guy covers vocals/guitar and the other guy hits his drums, hard. They came out with an incredible opening song that might have actually set the bar a little too high for the rest of the show because they weren't able to reproduce the energy of that first song, not that the rest of the show was bad, far from it. The sound was clean, hard to screw up the mix for two instruments. The only problem they had was that the drummer hit his cymbals so hard that sometimes they smashed into one of the mic stands around the drum kit and with enough hits the mic would fall out, a minor detail. Anyways, the show rocked, they rock, check 'em out.
